The sun is somewhere shining even when it rains.

I live by this. Often, it is hard to see the light when life is bleak and hazy. We sometimes must get out of our immediate surroundings to find the light. At times we must also choose to look internally for the light when we are surrounded by darkness.

My family and close friends call me Puff. Since I will be sharing my life, you might as well, also. I didn’t always like this nickname. However, as I got older, I found comfort in this name and fully embrace it.

Who is Puff? Heck, I don’t know. Haha!!! I’m a mother to a sweet teenage girl. I am a 6 year cancer survivor. When I was 22, I was diagnosed with myasthenia gravis. I am a special education teacher to amazing high school students with various medical, physical and psychological conditions. I am recently divorced after a brief three year marriage. Don’t waste any time feeling pity for me…God is good. I love traveling and reading. I decided to start this blog to encourage others and myself. I have always enjoyed writing poetry, short stories and journaling. In my early twenties (early 2000’s), my mother sold all of my writings at a yard sale. It was a mistake, however, my desire to write must have also been sold at that yard sale. I have not written anything besides essays for college courses until now. I’m just learning this blog thing and also freeing myself of any shame or fear in order to help someone else. I will try to blog often. Forgive me when I don’t. I have a very active teenager and students who require most of my attention. My ultimate goal is to ignite light in shaded areas.
